Looking for an English-speaking commercialista?

A commercialista is a registered Italian accountant. Many don’t work in English, and very few publish their prices. Here is what a commercialista does, what we do, and how to tell which one you need.

What a commercialista is

A dottore commercialista is a professional registered with the Albo dei Dottori Commercialisti e degli Esperti Contabili. Commercialisti keep books, prepare and transmit returns, represent clients before the Agenzia delle Entrate and in tax disputes, and sign documents that the law reserves to registered professionals.

What we are

We are not a commercialista, and we are not a registered accounting practice. We prepare Italian tax returns in English for a flat fee, published upfront, and we explain every figure. Where Italian law requires a registered professional to sign or transmit something, a licensed commercialista we work with does it. We tell you exactly which parts those are.

When you need a commercialista directly

  • You are being audited, or you have received a notice you want to contest.
  • You need bookkeeping through the year, for example under the ordinary VAT regime.
  • Your company needs statutory accounts and ongoing compliance beyond our SRL package.

If that’s you, we’ll say so, and we can point you to someone who works in English.

Questions

So are you a commercialista?

No. We are not a registered accounting practice. We prepare and explain your return in English and work with licensed commercialisti where the law requires a professional to sign or transmit something. We tell you which parts those are.

Who signs or transmits my return?

Either you submit it yourself through your own SPID, with everything prepared and a walkthrough, or a licensed commercialista transmits it for you. We tell you which applies before you pay.

I need audit representation or monthly bookkeeping.

Then you need a commercialista directly, and we’ll say so. Ask us and we can point you to one who works in English.
